Get To Know Elijah

Elijah Terrell Horton was born on October 14, 1999, at 9:39 p.m. Both parents were present when he came into the world, born as the only son of both Kanika Washington and Reginald Horton.

At a very early age, Elijah’s love for music was apparent. He took up piano and drums when he was 4 years old. He had his first piano recital at the tender age of 5. Throughout the years, his love of piano turned into drums, the trumpet, and later, MAC computers which he used to create beats, record music, and express his journey through life via song. He also enjoyed sports. He played football for the Bordeaux Eagles, West Nashville Broncos, and Pearl Cohn High School as a senior. One coach said that Elijah may have been the fastest 5-year-old that he has ever seen. Everybody knew that Gorilla 28 Sweep was his play and usually ended up in a touchdown. He did not just excel on the field. He was an excellent student. He started school at Barbara Vaughn’s home daycare and later attended Schrader Lane Child Care Center. He attended Sylvan Park Paideia Elementary, West End International Bachelorette, Head Magnet, and graduated from Martin Luther King Magnet High School. He then began his matriculation at North Carolina A&T (Aggie Pride!) and later Tennessee State University (Big Blue!).

Throughout his life, Elijah made so many friends and participated in both civic and faith-based community activities. Through this foundation, we honor and relive his life.
